Achievements 

Modern Coal Chemical

We have 20 years of experiences in the development and application of a complete set of packaged technologies of methanol to olefin (MTO). Since 2004, we have entered the collaborative relationship with Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shaanxi Xinxing Coal Chemical Technology Development Co., Ltd. to jointly develop and promote the application of a complete set of commercial technologies for the preparation of low-carbon olefins from coal based methanol (DMTO). In 2005, the world's first commercial pilot plant with 10,000 ton-class DMTO technology was built in Shaanxi Province, China. In August 2010, the world's largest methanol to olefin commercial plant was built in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. As of the end of 2022, 31 items of DMTO technology license transfers have been achieved with a total olefin production of 20 MMTPY, equivalent to 200 MMTPY of crude oil, which can provide strong support for the promotion of oil substitution in the chemical industry. In January 2015, this technology has won the First Prize for Chinese Technological Invention Award.

We have also made efforts in the project engineering development and application with new technologies such as indirect coal liquefaction, coal to gas, coal to aromatics, coal to ethylene glycol, methanol to propylene, methanol to gasoline, and methanol to aromatics etc. A total of 13 items of patents and 21 items of proprietary technologies have been obtained. A unique and complete set of technologies in modern coal chemical industry have been formed.

Project Performances

Since 2005, we have completed the engineering design of 23 sets of DMTO commercial plant with various capacities in China, including 0.6 MMTPY, 0.33 MMTPY and 1.05 MMTPY and 17 units of which have been put into operation. In addition, 22 units of olefin separation plant have been completed and13 sets have been put into operation. Besides, we have established long-term cooperative relationships with domestic and foreign process licensors.
