Algerian LNG Tank Project Large Dome Lifting Completed

On November 22, the last dome section was precisely lifted into place, marking the successful completion of the large dome installation for the Algerian LNG tank project, a major milestone in the project’s construction.

Dome installation is a core step in the project’s construction, transitioning from external prefabrication to internal installation. It is one of the key factors affecting the overall construction schedule. The project team faced multiple challenges, including the large size of the tank dome sections (32 sections totaling 480 tons), high lifting height (30 meters), large lifting radius (35 meters), and language barriers between Chinese and local employees. Despite these challenges, the project team adhered to the principle of “Safety First, Quality Above All” and employed a phased lifting strategy. On November 17, the lifting of the first large dome section (approximately 21 tons each) officially began. After the successful positioning of 16 large dome sections, the team swiftly proceeded with the lifting of the smaller dome sections (9 tons each, 16 pieces in total). The entire lifting process was completed safely and efficiently, achieving the lifting goal four days ahead of the original schedule.

On November 24, A. DEBBOU, Manager of the Oil and Gas Tracking Department at Sonatrach, sent a letter of gratitude praising the Chinese project team for their exceptional professionalism and dedication.
