The main body of the scientific research exchange center of the Tianjin Scientific Experimental Base project of SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, undertaken by the company as the general contractor, was officially topped out on September 4, marking the successful achievement of the first major milestone in the engineering construction as planned. Wang Zhe, Secretary of the Party Committee of SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, Dong Kexue, Executive Director and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fourth Construction Company, Wang Xiaowei, Deputy General Manager of the Company, and representatives from the project clients, construction, supervision, quality supervision stations, and other participating companies attended the topping out ceremony.
This project serves not only as a pilot platform for SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing in Tianjin to carry out research on oil refining transformation and upgrading, new energy, new materials, green chemical industry, and related technical fields, but also as a production platform to ensure the demand for national defense and military products. Additionally, it marks the first time the company has undertaken a full-scale research base project as an EPC general contractor. Since the project commenced construction last December, facing challenges such as tight construction schedules, urgent progress requirements, and multiple units, the company has managed to ensure construction progress by optimizing the design and drawing sequence, actively assisted the clients in vendor negotiating and pricing to promote procurement, overcame various difficulties to vigorously accelerate the design, procurement, and construction. Sequentially, the project has completed pile foundation construction, foundation construction, and comprehensive laying of underground pipelines. Currently, the project site has entered the stage of steel structure construction and equipment installation operations.
Wang Xiaowei said in his speech at the topping out ceremony of the main body of the scientific research exchange center that it is imperative for the company to align its vision and enhance its understanding and he called for a new upsurge of enthusiasm in engineering construction to ensure a smooth and efficient progress and create a good construction atmosphere that works quickly, focuses on safety, ensures quality and promotes, and give full play to the advantages of general contracting management. He urged the company to leverage its strengths in general contracting management, promoting a reasonable integration of design, procurement, and construction processes. Additionally, he stressed the importance of expediting the delivery and transportation of equipment and materials to meet construction deadlines. Wang vowed to provide all necessary support to create an optimal construction environment, ensuring that the project’s critical milestones are achieved on schedule.
It is reported that the quality control center, the analytical laboratory building, the general power distribution station and other units of the project will successively achieve the topping out one after another in the near future after the main body of the scientific research exchange center is topped out.
