On April 26, the Dilute Ethylene to Ethylbenzene Experimental Plant by Liquid Phase Method of Daxie Petrochemical, with GPEC as the EPC contractor and constructed by Yueyang Changlian Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. was completed, and signed the Project intermediate handover certificate was signed. Wang Xiaowei, deputy general manager of GPEC, Ye Feng, the chief expert and project general supervisor of GPEC, and heads of relevant departments and representatives of the project team attended the intermediate handover ceremony.

The project, with its construction started in November 2023, is the first dilute ethylene to ethylbenzene industrial side line experimental plant based on liquid phase process in China. The liquid phase alkylation technology adopted by it is a newly developed technology, not only breaking the restrictions of traditional gas phase ethylbenzene technology, but also with the advantages of full liquid phase feeding, low reaction temperature and low energy consumption of the pure ethylene liquid phase process. In addition, it can effectively increase the ethylene conversion rate and ethylbenzene yield, improve the quality of ethylbenzene products, and reduce the fuel gas consumption in heating furnace and steam consumption in subsequent product separation unit.
