On January 15, a ceremony was held in BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Site Project for achieving 500,000 safe work hours at the wastewater treatment unit. The BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Base project is located on Donghai Island in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, with a planned area of about 9 square kilometers, consisting of the production plants for steam cracking, C4 selective hydrogenation, pyrolysis gasoline hydrogenation, ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol, and non-ionic surfactant, and the support utilities and auxiliary facilities, with total expected investment of 10 billion Euro, as the largest overseas investment project of BASF by now. Since 2022, the consortium formed by GPEC together with Suez Water Engineering and 11th Chemical Construction Company has been working on the EPC construction of two units, including wastewater treatment.

Wang Xiaowei said at the ceremony that the consortium should always adhere to the concept of “people-oriented and safety first” and constantly raise and strengthen safety awareness; at the same time, the 500,000 safe work hours should be taken as a new start point, and persistent efforts should be made to ensure realizing the safety and quality objectives in the whole course of project construction.
