On November 24, construction was started for the 1500 KTA Ethylene and its downstream High-end New Materials Industrial Cluster Project at Sinopec Zhenhai site. Present at the kick-off ceremony were Ma Yongsheng, chairman and leading Party members' group secretary of Sinopec, Yu Baocai, a member of the leading Party members' group and deputy general manager of Sinopec and president of the Limited Company, Yi Lianhong, secretary of CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress, and Peng Jiaxue, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Provincial Committee and secretary of the Ningbo Municipal CPC Committee, and leaders of Sinopec, Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City jointly pushed the bar to start the construction. Also present at the kick-off ceremony were Han Weiguo, CPC Committee secretary and executive director of the Company and chiefs of relevant entities, and representatives of entities participating in the construction.

It is reported that the project is the expansion with 1500 KTA ethylene and downstream new material process plants and related supporting facilities based on the existing scale of Zhenhai Refining and Chemical. After the completion of the project, it will form a number of characteristic industrial chains that link with the downstream new energy vehicles, high-end equipment, photovoltaic and household appliances in the Yangtze River Delta, especially the Hangzhou Bay region, promote the accelerated construction of Zhenhai Base into a “world level, high-tech and integrated” green petrochemical base, and further consolidate the position of China as the No. 1 ethylene production and consuming country in the world.
